
Remains of former Kwara Gov Cornelius Adebayo arrive Ilorin

The remains of former Governor of Kwara State, Chief Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, have arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, ahead of his final burial ceremony.
Our Government House Correspondent, Abdulrosheed Okiki, reports that the body arrived at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, aboard 5N-XEL XE-JET at about twenty-five minutes to noon.
A delegation from the Kwara State Government, led by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Olubukola Babalola, was on hand to receive the body.
The delegation also included members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Olayiwola Ojo, and the House of Representatives member for Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero/Ekiti Federal Constituency, Honourable Tunji Ajulo-Opin.
Others present at the airport were chairmen of local government areas, political leaders, and stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi.
The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, and the Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq, were among the dignitaries who later received the remains at the late former governor’s GRA residence of the former Governor.
Chief Adebayo who served as a senator before becoming the Governor of Kwara State in nineteen eighty-three then later became the Minister of Communications under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Born on the twenty-forth of February, nineteen forty-one at Oke Onigbin in Isin Local Government Area, Chief C.O Adebayo died in Abuja on the twenty-fifth of June, this year at the age eighty-four.
The former governor will be laid to rest on Saturday at his country home, Oke-Onigbin, in Isin Local Government Area of the State.
