Hon. Kunle Soname, the owner of Remo Stars and a prominent entrepreneur, has characterized the late Emmanuel Iwuayanwu as a trailblazer in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
He emphasized that his club’s current success can be attributed significantly to the groundwork laid by the late politician and leader through his stewardship of Heartland FC of Owerri, previously known as Iwuayanwu Nationale.
Iwuayanwu passed away on Thursday after a brief illness, plunging the nation into mourning.
In addition to being a billionaire tycoon, the late President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo was also the publisher of Champion Newspapers.
“Chief Iwuayanwu, may he rest in peace, was a trailblazer.
“I deeply admired him in my youth.
“This admiration stemmed from his decision to invest his wealth in the realm of football,” expressed Hon. Soname
He further elaborated that Remo Stars’ accomplishments in the NPFL are a result of studying the legacies of Iwuayanwu Nationale and Abiola Babes, owned by the late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.
“Credit should be attributed to individuals like MKO and Iwuayanwu.
“Without such visionaries, we might have repeated the same errors.
“We find ourselves here today because we gleaned insights from their past decisions.
“We assimilated their successes and rectified their missteps.
“We firmly believe that the sustainability of football is contingent upon well-established frameworks.
“We recognized that this might have been lacking in the past,” he articulated.
Remo Stars secured a commendable second position last season and are poised to participate in the prestigious CAF Champions Cup later this year.
