The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), under the leadership of President Ibrahim Gusau, has officially unveiled Finidi George as the permanent head coach of the Super Eagles, radiokwara.com.ng reports .
His appointment as the new Super Eagles coach comes after the departure of former coach Jose Peseiro, with Finidi successful stint as interim coach during the recent international friendly matches against Ghana and Mali.
Finidi, a former Real Betis winger, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as an assistant coach during the last African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up. His permanent appointment was announced at the NFF headquarters in Abuja on Monday morning.
As the new head coach, Finidi’s first assignment will be the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana. The Super Eagles will face their South African counterparts on June 7th, and Finidi will be looking to make a strong start to his tenure as he leads the team towards qualification for the global tournament.
