Easter: Kwara Gov, Speaker celebrate with Christians
By Mahmood Olayinka Alaya
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has congratulated the Christian community in the state on the Easter festivities, calling it a period of introspection, self-discipline, sacrifice, forgiveness, and commitment to God.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor called on Nigerians to take advantage of the period to seek God’s favour for the country and eschew all divisive tendencies.
“The Easter festivities come at a unique moment in our national life when we have just elected new representatives and chief executives to pilot the affairs of the country for the next four years. In the spirit of the Easter, and of the Muslim’s holy month of Ramadan, we need to bury the hard feelings that came with electioneering campaign and join new leaders for the task of nation building — a task that requires everyone to support every effort for sustainable growth and development,” the Governor said in the statement.
“I wish everyone greater strides and glad tidings as we celebrate the festivities.”
Similarly, Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Engineer Yakubu Salihu has tasked Christian faithful to continue to pray for Nigerian leaders to engender sustainable growth in the Country
Engineer Salihu made this known today in his Congratulatory Message to Christian faithful to celebrate Easter endorsed by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulkadir Yusuf, in Ilorin
He harped on the need for Christians to imbibe the lessons of Easter to seek forgiveness to renew their commitments to God
Engineer Salihu therefore congratulated adherents of Christianity on the occasion of the Easter festival and urged them to be steadfast in the spiritual engagements to earn God’s mercy
