Fagbemi commissions Ilorin Zonal Command of EFCC

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, today commissioned the new Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, office complex, describing it as an attestation of the present administration’s determination to rid Nigeria of corruption.
At the ceremony held at the new office location at Oko Close, Off Station Road, Ilorin, Prince Fagbemi identified EFCC as pivotal to the actualisation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s plan to free Nigeria from the grips of corruption
According to him, the EFCC is pivotal in the Tinubu administration’s plan to remove impediments to accountability in governance institutions and strengthen mechanisms and platforms by which Nigerians can hold public officers to account.
The Chief Law Officer also reminded officers of the Commission of its obligation to always conduct its affairs strictly in accordance with the Rule of Law.
In his remarks, the Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq noted that the fight against corruption is a national campaign that requires the support of all, especially at institutional levels.
He congratulated the EFCC on the feat of having its own zonal office, which he said would strengthen the institutional resolve to combat corruption, especially through deterrence and other preventive strategies.
Governor AbdulRazaq assured the EFCC and every other sister agencies of the continuous support and cooperation of the administration.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, had charged officers of the Commission to be unsparing in their efforts to sanitise the business environment and support the country’s drive to attract Foreign Direct Investment, by tackling frauds of all hue, stressing that there would be no excuses for non-performance.
Our Government House Correspondent, Rosheed Okiki reports that the newly commissioned office complex, apart from providing office accommodation for all categories of staff, also has purpose-built interrogation rooms, holding facility for suspects, and canteen that serves the needs of both personnel and suspects in detention.
The event was attended by eminent personalities across the country including members of the State executive council, Federal and State Legislators, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, Heads of Security and Law Enforcement Agencies, Heads of Government Corporations and Agencies, including the General Managers of Radio Kwara, Kwara Television Authority and Herald Newspapers and Captains of industries.
