Kwara Gov, Emir of Ilorin others extol virtues of late Prof. Mustapha Akanbi

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; and prominent Islamic clerics have extolled the virtues of the late former Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi.
According to them, Professor Akanbi left indelible mark during his lifetime.
They spoke in Ilorin today at the official commissioning of Deen Central Mosque built in memories of Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi and Alhaji Alimi Atanda.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Religion Affairs (Islam), Ibrahim Zubair Danmaigoro, described the transition of the ex-Vice-Chancellor as saddening.
He, however, said the state government takes solace in the fact that his legacies are enduring.
The Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammed Adebayo, who represented the Emir of Ilorin at the event, prayed for Allah’s continuous mercies for the deceased scholar.
The popular Muslim preacher, Alhaji Muhyideen Ajani Bello, and Shaykh Sulaiman Dan-Borno, identified late Professor Akanbi as an embodiment of humility, who preached integrity and piety.
Alhaji Bello urged Muslim faithful to be God fearing and always undertake soul searching.
He also admonished them to be conscious of legacies in their actions and inactions because records of deeds will be made available to every mankind on the Day of Great Assembly.
Shaykh Dan-Borno reminded the congregants to de-emphasize quest for material wealth and rely on the Almighty Allah at all times.
At the event were the Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is’haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, and Zana of Ilorin, Engineer Yusuf ‘Lanre Sagaya, and acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh.
