The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to healthcare development with the timely disbursement of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) to 37 resident doctors in the state civil service.
According to the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, this marks the third consecutive year the government has fulfilled its pledge to support resident doctors through the MRTF, an initiative designed to ease the financial burden associated with specialist medical training.
Dr. El-Imam commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his consistent support of the health sector and emphasized the administration’s continued focus on strengthening human capital within healthcare.
“The prompt release of the MRTF ensures our young medical professionals can concentrate fully on their clinical training and the delivery of quality healthcare services to the people of Kwara State,” she said.
She further noted that the MRTF is more than just a financial intervention, it reflects the administration’s values and priorities.
“Our resident doctors represent the future of our healthcare system. This support is crucial to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their journey toward becoming specialists,” she added.
Dr. El-Imam reiterated the government’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for healthcare professionals to thrive, while ensuring the continued delivery of accessible, high-quality, and sustainable health services across the state.
