
Late Pioneer Professor of Geology buried, amidst tears
…Dep Gov leads govt delegation

Kwara State Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi today led a powerful delegation of the State Government to the burial of Professor Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye in Offa, amid prayers and eulogies for the first Professor of Geology in Africa and Baba Adini of Kwara State.
Olofa of Offa Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye the second, several Offa chiefs and children of the deceased received the delegation.
The janazah was attended by hundreds of Muslim leaders, scholars, top politicians, and academics from across the state and beyond.
The scholars recalled the commitments of the late statesman to national development, human advancement, Islamic propagation, and peaceful coexistence in Offa and beyond.
A member of the Kwara State Arabic Board, Doctor Ahmad Agbaje who delivered the main lecture, explained that the late Professor Oyawoye was a rare gem who gave his all to humanity and had no apologies for his beliefs and love for the Qur’an and served Allaah wholeheartedly.
He urged his survivors to emulate his good deeds and live up to the billings of being the children of a great man who was reputed for his integrity and service to humanity.
The state government’s delegation included Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Architect Saifudeen Mohammed; Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development Hon. Kora Sabi; Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu; Commissioner for Finance Olasumbo Oyeyemi Florence; Commissioner for Communications Abubakar Buhari.
Others were Special Adviser on Strategies Saadu Salau; Special Adviser on Special Duties AbdulRazaq Jiddah; Special Adviser on Youths Umar Mohammed; House of Representatives member-elect Ahmed Adamu Saba; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye; Special Assistant to the Governor on Religion (Islam) Alhaji Ibrahim Dan Maigoro; Chairman Kwara State Teaching Service Commission Bello Taoheed Abubakar and several other top government officials, party officials and elders led by Acting APC Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Samari; Doctor Ghali Alaya; and Alhaji Baba Olosasa.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had described his death as the end of a great era, saying the late Crown Prince Oyawoye was in a class of his own in philanthropy, academics accomplishments, community service, leadership, and support for development.
