NALVEJ Hails Ajakaye’s Re- appointment As Kwara Governor’s Chief Press Secretary
The National League of Veteran Journalists ( NALVEJ) has rejoiced with Malam Rafiu Ajakaye on his re- appointment as the chief press secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State.
The league, in a statement signed by its Kwara State chairman, Alh Tunde Akanbi and the publicity secretary, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, described Ajakaye’s appointment as well deserved.
It added that Ajakaye earned the re- appointment as he discharged his responsibility as the governor’s spokesperson with vigour, tact and accuracy during his first tenure as the chief press secretary to the governor.
Describing Ajakaye as humane, versatile and a prolific writer, the league expressed delight that he served his boss diligently and thereby projecting journalists as responsible, honest and trustworthy people.
” We are happy that Ajakaye exhibited competence, diligence, class and style in the discharge of his duties as the governor’s spokesperson in the last four years. We make bold to say that Ajakaye, by every standard was a worthy ambassador of men of the pen fraternity,” the league stated.
The association of veteran journalists, however, advised the chief press secretary not to rest on his oars and should continue to represent his constituency well in the government.
It asked him to, as usual, champion the cause of his colleagues ( journalists) and their unions- the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), NALVEJ and other affiliate bodies, in the scheme of things as they are critical stakeholders in the affairs of the state.
The league prayed God to continue to strengthen, guide and protect Ajakaye in the discharge of his duties.
It thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for re- appointing Ajakaye, noting that,” the first appointment made by the governor shortly after his inauguration was that of the chief press secretary. And we viewed this singular action of the governor as a testament of his regard and love for journalists in the state.”
