All is set for the annual Ramadan Iftar/Get-together of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) holding in Ilorin, the state capital tomorrow (Monday).
The event, which is going to be the second in the tenure of Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed-led administration of the state NUJ, holds at Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin beginning at 5pm.
The Senator-elect for Kwara Central Senatorial District and Founder, Saliu Mustapha Foundation, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, is solely bankrolling the programme.
Some kind hearted Friends of the Union have also supported the event.
In a statement, the Chairman and Secretary of the NUJ Iftar/Get-Together Organizing Committee, Hajia Binta Abubakar-Mora and Mr Abeeb Ahmed Oredunni respectively said the ceremony will be preceded by a lecture themed “The Place of Religion in Politics and Governance”.
The statement noted that a Lecturer in the Department of Arabic, University of Ilorin, Dr Mahmud Danjuma Musa, has been designated as the Guest Speaker.
It said the event offers an avenue for socialising and strengthening bond of fraternity among members of the union in the state.
The statement disclosed that beyond merrymaking, the event is in furtherance of the effort of the council to stimulate sense of belonging and responsibility in the affairs of NUJ as a formidable organization.
