
Heath expert wants Tinubu to halt medical tourism

President Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been charged to halt medical tourism in Nigeria by turning around the country’s health sector through provision of state of the art equipment and manpowers.
The Immediate Past Provost, Kwara State College of Nursing, Ilorin, Imam Abubakar Ayinla who gave the charge today in Ilorin while answering questions on a Radio Kwara Yoruba interactive programme “ Gbagede Oro”, called on the incoming administration to give necessary attention to the sector to enable Nigerians have access to qualitative healthcare.
He frowned with the way Nigerians battling internal ailments are being flown abroad for treatment, saying that Nigeria is blessed with manpower that could provide such treatments if the country’s hospitals are well equipped.
On incessant strike in the health sector, he advised government to holistically pay attention to welfare and salary of health workers to curb incessant strike.
The Guest urged the government to carry out research to solve the various issues affecting the health system and called for harmonious relationship among health workers.
Imam Ayinla applauded Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for his support to the health sector especially the College of Nursing and Midwifery.
Speaking on the emergence of Governor Abdulrasaq as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, the Former Provost described it as a good development that would strengthened the bond between Kwara and other States.
Callers on the programme implored the government to address the rot in the health sector.
