
IEDPU welcomes renaming of Ilorin Airport after Idiagbon; congratulates AbdulRazaq, others on national honours

Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has saluted former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for renaming the Ilorin International Airport after a distinguished son of the community and his erstwhile Deputy, late General Abdulbaki Babatunde Idiagbon as it also congratulated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on his inauguration for his second term in office as well as for being conferred with the prestigious national honour of the Commander of the Order of the Niger(CON).
In a statement signed by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, on behalf of its National President, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, fsi, the Union said that it felt greatly relieved and honoured with the renaming of the Ilorin Airport as Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport, saying that the honour is quite befitting as it would always remind users of the Airport and others of his patriotism, gallantry as well as other worthwhile attributes and contributions of the late statesman.
The Union similarly congratulated the Executive Governor of Kwara State on his swearing in ceremony for a second and final term in office, describing the event as historic in the annals of the State.
Alhaji Uthman also congratulated the Governor for bagging the national honour of CON as it felicitated with the immediate past Honourable Minister of State for Solid Minerals Development, Senator Rukayyat Gbemisola Saraki on the national honour of the same Commander of the Order of the Niger bestowed on her.
Alhaji Uthman similarly extended his good wishes to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuiaib Lamido Belgore and a prominent son of Ilorin, Honourable Zakkariyah Yusuf, who earned the awards of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), respectively.
The Union equally congratulated other indigenes of Ilorin who made the list of those granted one national honour or the other, describing them as distinguished compatriots who deserved the coveted honours.
While praying for more felicity on the soul of General Idiagbon, the Union wished the Governor and other honourees more remarkable successes.
